I’m an artist and dancer from Harlem, NYC. In 2024, I graduated from Bennington College with a B.A. in Visual Art, Dance, and Accessibility Studies.
There’s a soft vibration or ‘hum’ omitted from all living and nonliving things that I’m interested in listening to more closely. The act of painting (in any medium) is how I tune into these frequencies. By recreating scenarios of tension—between bodies in motion, colors in space, or memory and reality—I can better understand exchanges that happen between myself and others, and process sitting in the discomfort of having a body with its own frequency. I have been exploring communication across disciplines, making pieces that touch on the viscera in painting, the rhythm in printmaking, the texture in dance-making, or the honesty in collaboration. Within these experiments, queerness is ever present. Storytelling allows me to question the subconscious ways in which we have been taught to view different bodies, and make physicality based assumptions. Movement has a crucial role in every piece, in process, and often as a product.
I’m continuously inspired by other artists whose work alters the body and the eye, and heavily influenced by the history of social dances, vocal cues, and shared language.
